Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said he is leaning toward going with Livan Hernandez as his Opening Day starter.

Funny, funny stuff. "We’re kind of trying to go with [Hernandez], but we’ll see how everything goes," Gardenhire said. "He should be the guy. … I was kind of leaning that way, but wait and see what happens as we go along here."

If Gardy starts Livan over Baker (as we know Liriano wont be our #1 starter right away), then we might as well toss in the towel for this year. Livan has done TERRIBLE this Spring. Giving up way too many runs. I know we signed him for veteran leadership, but frankly right now, the youngsters are showing him how to pitch instead of the other way around.

I'm sorry Gardy, but this would be a TERRIBLE move. Almost as terrible as saying last year that Punto is our 2B heading into Spring Training this year.

I have never been a fan of Gardy. He mismanages the pitching staff. Leaving starters in too long when they are struggling and stuff.

What's your guys/girls opinions on this?

You must remember that this is spring training, but I do agree. Livan would not be a good opening day starter...he can locate his pitches and picks up his share of ground balls. He does give up way too many walks and hits and of course those lead to runs. This is SPRING TRAINING and JOHAN SANTANA has done pretty poorly in the past. Livan would NOT be a good ace. I agree with that but I dont agree with your statement that Livan has given up too many runs this spring...yes he has, but it is ST.

If Livan is the Opening Day starter, I'll be pretty mad with the team. I have no problem with the signing because I think he can help in the middle of the rotation. But to give him the spot over Baker is crazy. I don't give a crap if he is a veteran or not. Baker deserves the spot.

I'm also really hoping that Gomez is in CF. For some reason, I really like watching him play, and I'll be upset if I have to watch Pridie play there.

I heard today that it's now down to Gomez and Span. They don't think Pridie can be an everyday starter, but rather a bench player and get the occasional start in CF. I am with you though, I love Gomez. Yeah, his bat is weak right now, but at least he is getting contact and not striking out every time. You have to remember he is only 20 years old as well. He will get better and start him in the majors and he will adjust.

Scott Baker should start, and Span should start at CF.

I'll agree with Baker, but I want Gomez
