Losing Cuddyer is distressing 3 Months, 2 Weeks ago
Hits: 3
When I read Lavelle's blog during the game last night, I was floored when I read that Cuddyer got hit in a line drive. This is simply not good period. I have hard time believing that he is coming back this year. This is an injury that you never going to rush or recover quickly.
It's unfortuante and this is a loss that hurts. Cuddy can hurt, and most importantly, he can play well on the road. This team does not have a leader that can rally around. Cuddy comes close to that. With due respect to Mauer and Morneau, they lead quietly, and for a ballclub like the Twins, you need a guy who can inspire and rally, which Torii did in his time with the team. Losing Cuddyer hurts anywhere you slice.
I know Delmon and Carlos are publicly and even privately are not going to celebrate this news, and you hate to see that those two will benefit from this, but those two can be thankful that they are going to play everyday no matter how bad they play. Delmon and Carlos were in danger of losing playing time as they would share the job daily. I figure Denard would be the everyday starting centerfielder, and Carlos and Delmon would share time.
The Twins will have to survive this.
This is why you never wish injuries on anyone because it's not pleasant when your team is the victim of injuries.
