Moving Forward E-mail
Written by TwinsTerritory

It's not easy, and for the true fans, it shouldn't be. In fact, until the team gets back on the field next spring, it should be hard to think about the Twins without thinking what could have been and what should have been. Missing the playoffs by one game, and more so, one run, isn't easy, but it's time to move forward.

With a young outfield consisting of a 22-year old, a 23-year old and a 24-year old, along with a young pitching staff and a core of two young All-Stars, the future is very bright. There are some holes, and we found that out later in the season. But, what team doesn't have holes? And, the Twins now know where those holes lie, and will look to solve them as we move close to a new era in Minnesota.

It is not easy to move forward after getting so close, but it's something we and the team must do. I have thought often what we might have been able to do in Tampa Bay, and more so what would have happened with the season had we had Neshek just a few times in late August.

In the coming days and weeks we will officially move on. In no order or schedule, I'll go over how well this team did in '08, we'll look back at our community projections and we'll remember the season that was. When that time has passed, we'll look ahead to what faces the team this off-season and in 2009. What are the options for the team in free agency? How about possible trades?

The off-season is a fun time, and while I'd much rather wait until late October to talk about it, we have no choice this season. It's better we start now, because it'll make our new start come along much faster.
