Twins Lose Neshek E-mail

On an exciting night at the Metrodome in which the Twins were able to rally in the ninth for the victory, the win was overshadowed by some saddening news. One of the best setup-men in the league is done for the season.

After leaving the game Thursday against the White Sox with elbow pain, Pat Neshek has been diagnosed with an acute partial tear of the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow.

The ulnar collateral is a major ligament in the arm, and the injury that Neshek has suffered is very similar to that of Francisco Liriano's.

The team is saying that no surgery is required, and Neshek said that while the injury is bad, he is glad he can simply rehab and get ready for Opening Day 2009.

"Obviously it's really bad, but it's good I can come back and rehab this instead of having to go through surgery and sit out for a good year."

Neshek is likely to see a specialist, and we can only hope the news doesn't get any worse than it already is.

This is a terrible injury not only for the team and bullpen, but also for Pat. As you'll find out soon, Pat has helped me out with my work, and is truly a great player and great person off the field. I'd like to wish him the best of luck from Twins Territory.
