Scott Baker passed his final test of the spring today throwing six solid innings against the AA New Britain Rock Cats. In his outing, Baker allowed one run, five hits, no walks and struck out three batters. More importantly, Baker threw 71 pitches which is right where manager Ron Gardenhire said he needed to be.

Gardenhire confirmed that Baker will start the team's fifth game, and the Opening Day rotation will officially be:

Livan Hernandez
Boof Bonser
Nick Blackburn
Kevin Slowey
Scott Baker

Plus, Francisco Liriano is expected to enter the rotation on April 13 if his two outings go as planned.

the less we have to use blackburn or slowey, the better, i think they are just too young and haven't developed yet, so getting liriano back this early is great news...
