"The Streak" Is Over E-mail
Written by TwinsTerritory

All good things must come to an end, and that is exactly what happened to the Minnesota Twins 10-game winning streak in a loss to the Milwaukee Brewers. The Twins lost by a final score of 5-1 to end the incredible streak of ten straight interleague victories.

Livan Hernandez put the Twins in an early hole, allowing five runs over the course of the first three innings to put the Twins down early. The offense never got it going against the lefty Parra, collecting just three hits in the entire game.

We knew “The Streak” couldn’t last forever, but the way it ended was somewhat disappointing. Over the course of the past ten games, the Twins have gotten quality starts night after night. In addition to the pitching, the offense hasn’t been anything to worry about.

They had showed up each night ready to hit, and for the most part struck first. Even when they were down, they always seemed to get a clutch hit from one of their many hot-hitting players, Morneau, Harris, Kubel, Young, Buscher, Mauer or one of the others.

The streak is over, but the Twins are still seven games above the .500 mark, and the last week has been a very exciting one. Hopefully the end of this streak doesn’t mean the start of a bad one. The Twins will look to pick up a series victory in the season finale of Interleague Play 2008 tomorrow at the Dome.

Make sure to cast your vote in the all-new poll, “Who was the MVP of the 10-game winning streak?”
