After injuring his hand yet again, Michael Cuddyer will be headed to the disabled list for at least two weeks. It looks like outfielder Denard Span will come back up from AAA Rochester to take his spot on the active roster.

Cuddyer hasn’t done a lot offensively this season, mainly because he has spent a good amount of his season on the shelf. He was starting to hit better over the course of the winning streak and had he stayed healthy, was on pace for somewhere in the mid-80 RBI range.

It’s likely that Jason Kubel will see the bulk of the playing time in right field, but there is also a good chance that Denard Span plays right and Gardenhire puts Kubel at designated hitter. The injury to Cuddyer could also open up more at-bats for Craig Monroe.
