After snapping their 10-game winning streak in game two of the final interleague series, the Twins got back on track to take the series victory against the Milwaukee Brewers in the border battle, and more importantly, a 14-4 interleague record.
Kevin Slowey took the hill in the finale, and might petition to always pitch against the Brewers after his second straight spectacular performance against the Twins’ rival. Slowey allowed two runs over eight innings when the team was in Milwaukee, and upped that performance in the finale at the Dome.
Slowey picked up his second complete game of the season and allowed no runs on just three hits. He also picked up the victory and is now 5-6 on the season with a tremendous 3.47 ERA. In the win, Slowey didn’t walk any batters and struck out eight.
Offensively, it was the young hitters that got it done. Carlos Gomez tripled in a run, Alexi Casilla doubled in a run and Delmon Young drove in two on his second homerun of the season.
Twins Notes:
** The Twins have played half of their games in the 2008 season with the loss on Saturday, and I went over the projections for both the
hitters and
pitchers. Make sure to check both of them out to see what the players are on pace to do by season’s end.
** Michael Cuddyer was officially placed the disabled list and Denard Span has been recalled. How will Span be used in his second stint with the team?
** Carlos Gomez made two spectacular catches on Saturday and Sunday, and I’ll try to have both of those videos soon (I have one so far).
** If you haven’t noticed, I added some new sites to the sidebar. You should check them all out, but some new additions are Twins Fix, TNABACG and 10,000 Takes.
** Finally, the last update for the All-Star Game voting came out today and Mauer and Morneau are right in the thick of things. Mauer leads by about 145,000 votes and Morneau trails by nearly 200,000 votes. Voting ends Wednesday at 10:59 central time, so make sure to help get both players into the big game.
