I've Got Nothing E-mail

Last night's loss was "tough" and I'm not sure what to call tonight's. Disgusting might do it, but it seems even worse than that.

Leading 5-2 in the eighth, the Twins (Reyes and Guerrier) managed to blow the lead and the game allowing the Red Sox to score four runs and take the game and series.

Nick Punto started the Twins in the right direction in the ninth, with a lead-off double. Span moved him over with a bunt and the Twins had a runner at third with two outs. You'd think they could tie it, but if you did, you're wrong. For some reason Jason Kubel came in for Gomez and looked terrible at the plate as he watched two down the middle and then got worked over on a 3-2 count.

The seven straight series wins streak is over, but that isn't what matters. The Twins lost a game they should've had, and if they don't win a few this week, their month of June could go to waste as they could possibly get down to as little as just five games above the .500 mark.

That's all for me tonight. I'm sick after watching this game get blown. I'll try to let it go and move on to the next game. I'll be wondering what might've been had Go-Go taken the bat instead.

Gomez a no Go-Go

I don't think the result would have been any different with Gomez. There is no way he could have held up on some of those high fastballs. Gomez would have struck out faster than Kubel did......

I guess it was just frustrating to see Kubel come in, because you just knew he'd strikeout. It was worse that he looked at two nice ones early in the count.
Gardy?

No mention of Gardy? I think he made a huge mistake in leaving Guerrier in for as long as he did. While Guerrier made some huge mistakes, (namely hanging a curveball to Manny), he should have been taken out right after that home run, if not before.

He should have. I think he should have started the inning as well. Having a runner at second to worry about while pitching to that lineup can't be easy.

We can't always worry about having our lefty face a lefty. Sometimes we have to trust our other pitchers to get the job done.
