Summary:
The Twins beat the Rays 6-5 in their first game of their second homestand. With the win, they are now 7-8 overall on the season with the Rays coming up for another and then the Indians coming into town.

Livan Hernandez was not anywhere near perfect, but he still provided the team with a decent outing. Hernandez went six innings, allowing eight hits, three earned runs (five total) while also striking out two. He didn't earn a decision and is 3-0 on the season with a 3.00 ERA.

The bullpen picked up the final three innings, and it was the other guys that closed out the game. Hernandez left with the game tied, and Reyes pitched 1.1 innings of hitless basbeall to keep it that way. Juan Rincon then finished up the eighth allowing just a hit, and with a run in the bottom half, he eventually received the win. Joe Nathan was on for his fifth save opportunity, and closed it out to stay perfect on the season.

The offense collected eleven total hits in the win, and that included Carlos Gomez finally getting back on track. Go-Go went 2-4 on the game with two more stolen bases to give him nine overall. Joe Mauer, Jason Kubel and Brendan Harris also each collected multiple hits with Mauer going 3-4 and the other two 2-4. The game winning run came on a sac-fly from the bat of Mike Lamb.

Box Score

Player of the Game:
Joe Nathan wins the Player of the Game for finally getting the Twins a victory after three straight losses. Also give some credit to Rincon and Reyes for keeping the game even.

Way to go

Twins....after a "sweep" by Detroit they needed this win. I was wondering what happened to Rincon and Reyes in Detroit....

Gomez!!! 9 out of 10 in SB! wow! Young forced Bartlett to make an error...Mauer has broken out of his minor slump. Why cant the offense do this every night? Kubel with great AB!!! Morneau I thought connected in the second when it hit off the top of the wall...ah well

Good Win!!!

Yeah, it was a nice win, and it was good to see Go-Go hit the ball. As I speak it looks like the Twins will miss out on the sweep as they trail
7-3 after a poor outing by Boof.
