Game 11: Kansas City Royals E-mail
Written by TwinsTerritory

The Twins shutout the Royals for the second straight night to secure another series win and to move above the .500 mark on the season with an overall record of 6-5. The offense scored just two runs, but it turned out to be enough with a solid pitching performance from Boof Bonser and the bullpen.

Bonser was 0-2 coming into the game, but overall had pitched pretty well. He picked up his first win of the season going six innings allowing just three hits, two walks and no runs while also collecting four strikeouts. Bonser is now 1-2 on the season with a solid 2.84 ERA through three starts.

After Bonser, the bullpen aces Matt Guerrier, Pat Neshek and Joe Nathan finished up the game. Guerrier pitched the seventh and allowed just one hit. The eighth went to Neshek and he struck out two in his quick inning of work. The ninth then went to Nathan for his fourth save opportunity and he gave up one hit, but got a double-play to get save number four on the early season.

The offense was by no means electric, with only hitters five through nine getting hits. But with the nice pitching performance, the two runs were enough. Kubel, Span, Punto and Harris each collected two hits with Kubel's solo homerun and Span's RBI single being the big ones. Delmon Young also singled late in the game.
