ROB PARKER OUT AT DETROIT NEWS

Internet rumors had been flying for days that Rob Parker was ousted at his employer the DetroitNews...and finally we have a source/link that confirms

"He doesn't work here any more," Managing Editor Donald Nauss said. He said Parker resigned on Friday. Asked whether this followed a suspension of his column, Nauss said, "I can't talk about personnel matters."

Its nice that Nauss said that he resigned. If resigned is also to mean that we called you into our office, told you how much of a f-up you are, told you how much you embarrass our paper, and then said to pack up your things and never be seen in the city of Detroit again, then yea, Parker resigned.

Its also important to note that Parker's name has been taken off the list of columnists at the News. So I guess that's double confirmation for you.

I'd hate to rehash all of Parker's garbage the last couple of years. The lies, the made up stories, the crappy journalism all around.

Here are just some of the stuff written by blogs about him.

Don't let the door smash into your oversized noggin on the way out Rob.

WHAT NFL EXECUTIVE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS QUOTE?

I think you have to have a coach who is a good communicator. I think you have to have a coach who respects the personnel process -- the scouting process and how things fit together -- and I think you have to have a coach that is smart.

From left to right, top to bottom

Bill Parcells, Ozzie Newsome, Tom Lewand
Scott Pioli, Matt Millen, Floyd Reese

AFTERNOON DELIGHT WITH NEW ENGLAND PATRIOT CHEERLEADERS

If you don't do anything else with your time today, its imperative that you check out these pics of the Patriots cheerleaders in Punta Cana.

That is, if you're a heterosexual male between 18 and 35. Apparently, according to the statistics, that comprises 95% of the site.

VOTE FOR HHR

Is this a shameless plug for good friends of mine?

Absolutely.

But its not often that the 2009 Weblog awards recognize people you know....

So with that, I'm sending my small army of WOI readers to vote for Hugging Harold Reynolds. An absolutely outstanding sports site.

NINTENDO: THE DUMBING DOWN OF AMERICA

On Christmas day 1987, I received the original Nintendo system. I was a highly intelligent child at the time, well ahead of my peers in elementary school. Teachers commented to my parents that maybe I was a genius of some sorts and that I should be tested.

Thankfully for me, the tests weren't until school came back after Christmas break.

By the time the test rolled around, I had played so much Super Mario Bros and Duck Hunt, that I was borderline retarded.

Essentially, Nintendo saved me from being an ultimate dweeb that would have ended up at MIT or something.

Instead I have a blog about sports and chicks.

Ah, the life I tell you.

Much thanks to WOI reader Mina for passing these videos along
