The Twins will finish off Part 1 of this monster road trip by facing the Blue Jays at Toronto for a three-game set. The Twins have survived in this trip, and they have to chance to go at least .500 on this trip, which is a reasonable goal. For that to happen, the Twins have to win the final two games of this trip so they need this series.

I did not think the Twins would have been tied with Chicago at first place on September 2nd. I did not think they would be in that position when the season started. I did not think it would happen in June. I sure did not think it would happen when this trip started. This team has certainly surprised me, and I think they might be good enough to finish the season in first place.

Glen Perkins will start tonight. He has been fantastic this season, and to me, he is one of the big reasons why the Twins are in this position right now. The Twins' young starters have been great the last few weeks. I wondered if those guys would have fell apart by now, but you know what, they have gotten better.

To me, the key play of that inning was Vernon Wells' great catch to rob Denard of a leadoff hit.
