I agree with you that Bremer is a good baseball announcer but I cant stand his homerish calls....he drives me crazy when Kubel hits a ball to the edge of the track and he is yelling "hit deep and there it goes"....Bremer and Gordon need to learn that everything isnt a homer. Gladden needs to cheer up in the booth because he makes the deep homers sound like routine fly balls.

I dont think the Twins are done. It is still early and if Hernandez can get moved out in a trade I think we have a good shot. If Hernandez leaves, Liriano would take his place and he has been amazing down in AAA in the last 4 starts! I am not ruling the Twins out of the race quite yet...

They are to me. Their starting pitching is nothing to write home about. You got guys learning on the job, and you got guys who are simply not that good as pitchers. I like Perkins and Blackburn. They can be good, but they are going to struggle. Not crazy about Slowey. I just don't think the starters are that good enough to lead them in the race. They will have a good days and bad days. It's part of learning.

We have Baker (who now is our ace with Hernandez struggling), Blackburn (#2), Perkins (#3), Slowey (#4) and Liriano (#5) - (as soon as Hernandez is traded).

We have young starters who will go through ups and downs but it appears that even the vets around the league are having more downs than ups right now and clubs are now beginning to rely on their young studs now. Dont count them out quite yet. I see them contending, not winning. They will not get into the playoffs this year but I am pretty sure that they will contend.

The starters are just not pitching like Major League standards. They haven't been that good, and I just think they have been figured it out. What you saw this weekend is not an aberration. Livan should go to a retirement home. Kevin Slowey should go to the minors. Nick Blackburn may be starting to get figured out, and same with Glen Perkins. Here's the problem with the Twins' starters. They give up home runs every freaking game. They give up hits. They don't pitch inside. They have control problems. They don't go deep in games. They just don't have quality starts. This is not good enough for Major League standards. This has been going on for awhile. The bullpen is used everyday, and now they are running out of gas. Bad starting rotation and tired bullpen are the reason why I waved the white flag on the show last night. Until I see things change, it isn't going to work. I will stand by what I said on the show. I just don't think it was just a bad series. This has been bubbling for awhile.

This was a good win for the Twins...

Tomorrow Perkins will take on Jeff Suppan (4-4, 3.78).

The Twins must keep on winning here in interleague play....

Sunday: Baker vs McClung

Monday: day off

Tuesday: Washington comes to town....

Twins have to keep winning in interleague play. I don't think any interleague teams are that good so they have to take advantage of it.
