I love Torii, but man I was glad to see him get a K off Joe.

It was very clear that Torii was scared to face Joe.

Adam Everett got the final out to secure Twins' first win!

Impressive game from Gomez & Harris and Hernandez did what he could do.

The good guys get their first win on their belt.

Dick Bremer said it best.

A perfect script.

Sorry for being gone for a bit there

That was an awesome finish. Nathan looked sharp.

Did anybody see that interview with Gomez on FSN? That was pretty cool. He isn't the best with his english at just 22, but I didn't think it was bad.

Who deserves the player of the game?

Is it Livan or Carlos?

You have to give it to Livan. Carlos did well, but his performance means nothing without Livan's work. Advantage goes to Livan.

Both were great, and that's the bottom line.

That was awesome to see Hernandez pitch seven solid innings with just 83 pitches. Had it been a little bigger lead, I think we would have went a complete game without a doubt.

Something I didn't mention: It was nice to see Kubel come in an get that hit.

Carlos did a good job in that interview.

The thing I got about this is that he is thankful to be in the majors and that he is happy to be in Minnesota. You can tell that he is happy about the opportunity.

Tought choice for the Player of the Game. Livan was great, and it was nice to see Gomez start the season the way he did. He "produced" two of those runs with his speed.

Carlos is going to be a fan favorite in the Twin Cities.

It won't be long until the Twins market Carlos.

You will see his jerseys by next month.

Tonight's game was a great building block in Carlos' MLB career.

Gomez got the edge over Livan in who is more deserving to be a POG, IMO. He get himself on bases and advances by stealing bases so he can get closer to score. Livan did a good job, but struggled in one inning with bases loaded and fortunately retired the inning before damage was being done. Both of them did very well, but I think it goes to Gomez.

Gomez seems like a very grateful kid, I agree. I love to see how hard he works.

Site Notes: This was a great first game thread I thought. If you know some others, let them know. We went five pages so far which was great. Hopefully we can get to 10 by the end of the season Also, if you were reading this, why not sign up and talk with Twins fans as the game happens?

Did anyone honestly expected a great game tonight?

I thought the Twins would win in a slug fest.

To win in a low-scoring fashion is even impressive.

The Twins really played a crisp, ballgame all around.

You got the offense doing well. Livan did more than what the fans thought he would do. The bullpen finished this one up.

This was an impressive win to start the season.

Good points.

Still if Livan does not give the Twins six good innings or go deep, the Twins lose and we don't talk about Carlos much. We would savage Livan a lot here especially at Rube Chat. Did anyone thought Livan would be great too? I sure didn't. I thought he would do okay enough to put the team in the game, and the Twins would win in a slug fest. Livan did more than what everyone expected out of him. Deep down, the Twins had to had their doubts tonight so that's why I went with Livan.

There is no right or wrong answer, which is why this debate is fun.

I am normally game for game threads with the exception of Sundays. I am at Jehovah's Witnesses on Sundays. I work Tuesdays and Thursdays so it will be hard to get on game threads especially if my supervisor is at the building. Thursday afternoon games is my best bet.
