The Twins have placed shortstop Adam Everett on the disabled list after he was unable to throw. They will call someone up from AAA Rochester, but won't announce the player until after today's game. Look for Brian Buscher or Alexi Casilla.

It's been almost a month since the season started and we've had a little time to see the four players acquired for Johan Santana. It'll take many years to judge who ultimately won the deal, but it's hard not to take a look at how the players involved are doing.

Humber started off slow, with a poor outing his first time out. He has since improved with his last two starts for the Red Wings. He was one of the last pitchers in camp, and could see time if the Twins need a pitcher at any point this season. In fact, if Brian Bass needs to hit the disabled list, Humber could be one of the options to replace him.

Mulvey was placed at AAA before the season primarily because pitcher Randy Keisler elected free agency. He has made the most of the chance, and has been one of Rochester's best pitchers so far. In his most recent outings, Mulvey allowed just one run in seven innings while also picking up nine strikeouts. He could possibly be a call-up before Humber if he continues to pitch well.

Guerra has a solid ERA after three starts for the Miracle, and if he continues to pitch well, he could be at AA by season's end. This would be a remarkable feat, because Guerra turned 19 just prior to the season. It'll be fun to watch this guy grow, hopefully into something similar to Johan Santana as some scouts predict.

We've all seen Gomez at the major league level this season, and so far we've seen the ups and downs. His speed is crazy, and he is nine for ten thus far in steal attempts. His speed has also gotten him a number of infield hits, and have gotten the Twins runs by him taking the extra base. The one downfall is his plate discipline, and as we've seen, he doesn't take very many pitches. It should be fun to watch him grow, and if the early glimpse is a sign of things to come, he'll be a very good player for years to come.
Those are the guys that the Twins received in the trade, now the guy who got all the pieces.

Santana has been a pretty good pitcher so far, and has gotten what he did with the Twins -- little run support. So far this season, he is still allowing homeruns like he started to do last season, and this has been what has really hurt him. It'll be interesting to see if he stays healthy with the Mets, and how things shape up when it's all said and done.

Well, the Twins lost 4-0 tonight in the first game of a three-game series with the Cleveland Indians. Francisco Liriano took the mound and lasted five innings allowing just three runs for a pretty decent outing considering it was just his second start of the season (his control was still off as he allowed five more walks).
The Twins collected just two hits on the night, and it was a frustrating game to watch. They'll face Paul Byrd and Jake Westbrook in the next two games, so hopefully they'll get back on track without facing Carmona or Sabathia.
Tonight, there is really no reason to go into any more detail. It was hard to watch, and there is nothing I can say to make things look better than they were.

The Twins have battled a few different injuries since the start of spring training, and with some recent ones, it's time to take a quick look at how some of the players are coming along.
Adam Everett:
Everett was examined a few days ago, and was not placed on the disabled list. However, he received a shot today, and has not thrown since the incident. There is still a chance that they'll move him to the disabled list, and we'll know more when he tries to throw in the next few days. If he does need a stint on the DL, look for Brian Buscher to get the call from AAA Rochester.
Kevin Slowey:
Slowey has had two bullpen sessions since the injury with no pain, and was expected to have another today. If all goes well, the plan is for Slowey to head to Fort Myers for a rehab stint. He is expected to need three our four starts in the minors before being ready to head back to the majors.
Michael Cuddyer:
Cuddyer can come off the disabled list this weekend, but it's a longshot that it'll happen. Cuddyer said that he still can't throw the ball correctly, and the injury in healing slower than thought. It's thought that Cuddyer should be able to return sometime mid-next week.

From FanGraphs.com
Summary:
The Twins lost to the Rays 7-3, and are now 0-3 in series sweep games. They have missed their chance to get a sweep twice against the Royals and now once against the Rays. With the loss, they are 7-9 overall on the season and will host the Cleveland Indians this weekend for three games.
Boof Bonser wasn't bad through four innings, allowing just three runs. But when the fifth inning rolled around, he got hit hard for four runs. Bonser's final line was four innings, seven hits, seven runs and two walks. He picked up the loss and is now 1-3 on the season with a 4.70 ERA. With Mulvey pitching solid at AAA, and Slowey getting closer to a comeback, you have to wonder if Bonser will soon be the odd man out.
The bullpen picked up the final innings, and pitched solid. Bass relieved Bonser in the fifth, but recorded just one out and threw just fourteen pitches before leaving with a strained back (day-to-day). Matt Guerrier stepped in, and finally pitched some solid baseball. Guerrier went 3.2 innings allowing just three hits and no runs while picking up three strikeouts. The final inning of work went to Pat Neshek and he too had a solid outing allowing no hits or runs.
The offense scored three times in three separate innings. It was a story of the top of the lineup as just hitters one through five collected hits while the others provided no production. Carlos Gomez collected two more hits to continue his recent hot streak. He is now hitting .275 on the season with the past two games. Filling in for Everett, Matt Tolbert also continued to hit. He went 2-4 with a double and an RBI. Joe Mauer and Delmon Young collected the other two RBI hits, and Justin Morneau was the other player to collect multiple hits on the night going 2-3.
Player of the Game:
Matt Guerrier- Guerrier picked up the slack from Bonser and helped the Twins through the Bass injury with 3.2 solid innings. If not for him, the Twins would have wasted their bullpen on a lost game.

Summary:
The Twins beat the Rays 6-5 in their first game of their second homestand. With the win, they are now 7-8 overall on the season with the Rays coming up for another and then the Indians coming into town.
Livan Hernandez was not anywhere near perfect, but he still provided the team with a decent outing. Hernandez went six innings, allowing eight hits, three earned runs (five total) while also striking out two. He didn't earn a decision and is 3-0 on the season with a 3.00 ERA.
The bullpen picked up the final three innings, and it was the other guys that closed out the game. Hernandez left with the game tied, and Reyes pitched 1.1 innings of hitless basbeall to keep it that way. Juan Rincon then finished up the eighth allowing just a hit, and with a run in the bottom half, he eventually received the win. Joe Nathan was on for his fifth save opportunity, and closed it out to stay perfect on the season.
The offense collected eleven total hits in the win, and that included Carlos Gomez finally getting back on track. Go-Go went 2-4 on the game with two more stolen bases to give him nine overall. Joe Mauer, Jason Kubel and Brendan Harris also each collected multiple hits with Mauer going 3-4 and the other two 2-4. The game winning run came on a sac-fly from the bat of Mike Lamb.
Box Score
Player of the Game:
Joe Nathan wins the Player of the Game for finally getting the Twins a victory after three straight losses. Also give some credit to Rincon and Reyes for keeping the game even.

The site error has been resolved for the time being, but it may only be a temporary fix. We are still not sure of the exact problem, and thus don't know if the error will occur again. We're still looking into fixing the issue permanently. If you do encounter the message, just continue to check back as we'll do the small fix at least to keep things going.
With the error, we did not have a game thread or anything for the game, and I apologize. The Twins lost again thanks this time to a blown lead by Jesse Crain after a solid Baker outing. We'll resume posting tomorrow and hopefully we won't run into these issues again.
Also, some player page links do not work currently because we reset page URL's. We'll get that fixed as soon as possible as well.
Thanks for your understanding.
